Mersin is adapting to digitalized production processes and ushering in a new era in vocational education with the launch of the Sortex Operator Training Program. Led by the Mersin Provincial Directorate of National Education, the Mersin Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MTSO), and the Mersin Organized Industrial Zone (MOSB), the training model was developed through the demand and support of Armada Foods—one of the industry’s leading companies. Through this initiative, young participants are being prepared for production facilities equipped with advanced technology.
A strong training model supported by technology providers
Through Armada Foods, Turkey’s expert representatives of Sortex technology ATS Service and Atomika Makina actively contributed to the training process. Engineers from these companies will provide students with hands-on technical training in areas such as color detection sensors, camera systems, software architecture, defective product separation, maintenance, and calibration. Armada Foods will also continue to offer facility and equipment support for on-site training throughout later stages of the program.
With this structure, the program stands out as a model that brings together technology producers, industrial enterprises, and vocational high schools—ensuring a fully field-aligned vocational training design.
Fifty students from seven vocational high schools in the city have begun receiving training on the operating principles of Sortex machines and their integration into production lines. Students will also visit MTSO Atölye 1886 and the MOSB Model Factory, where they will have the opportunity to observe robot–cobot systems and lean production processes firsthand.
As part of the three-phase training plan, students will move on to hands-on learning during April–May (Phase 2) at facilities equipped with Sortex machine lines. At the end of this process, students advancing to the 12th grade will continue their skill-based training at relevant companies, completing the final phase of the program and graduating as fully qualified Sortex Operators.
DAHİMERSİN continues to strengthen Mersin’s production capacity through a skilled and well-trained workforce.
